Payroll remittance: the price of one more day

A couple of days late is not a size of lateness, it is a side of a cliff. The late-remitting penalty steps 3 %, 5 %, 7 %, 10 % — so on a remittance of 12,500 the difference between day three and day four is 250 dollars for one day, and nothing on a bank screen tells you that. Paste your remittances straight out of a spreadsheet and this works out the due date, which side of each cliff you are on, and what one more day costs.

Canadian small businesses and sole proprietors with employees, and the bookkeepers who make the remittances for them.

How it works

  1. Paste one line per remittance: payroll month, amount, date paid. Tabs, semicolons or commas all work.
  2. Read the due date — the fifteenth of the following month, moved off a weekend where that applies.
  3. Check which band each late line falls in, and what one more day would add.
  4. Look at the repeats: a second late remittance in the same calendar year can carry double, shown as its own figure.

What you gain

  • Shows exactly what one more day of late payroll remittance costs — the penalty jumps in cliffs, not a slope — so you know the real price before deciding to pay late.

How to set up & use

  1. Buy the license — your key (lic_...) appears on the order page and in your email.
  2. Sign in at app.synoriaai.com with your license key.
  3. No installation — the product runs in your browser, on your own isolated instance.
  4. Paste your payroll rows into the box — each line with month, remittance amount, and actual remittance date, separated by tabs, semicolons, or commas.
  5. Click 'Add' to process. Any line that doesn't parse is reported with its line number, while the rest still go through.
  6. Review the results: the penalty for each line, what one more day would cost, and the total.
  7. If a repeat within the same calendar year is detected, the doubled figure is shown separately, not added to the total.
  8. Check the due date logic: it's the 15th of the month after the payroll month, moved to the next business day if it falls on a weekend. Statutory holidays are not built in.

Frequently asked questions

Is my payroll data safe?

All processing happens in your browser; nothing is sent to a server. Your data stays on your device.

Does this handle statutory holidays?

No. Statutory holidays are not built in because they vary by jurisdiction. You need to adjust the due date manually if a holiday falls on it.

What happens if I have a repeat late remittance in the same year?

The tool flags it and shows the doubled penalty separately, because the doubling depends on your specific circumstances — it's not folded into the total.
